Hard not to be happy & excited about 2017. Decent spring rain, a mild summer & then good warmth to bring it all home. Wines that as a result are full flavoured at low alcohols with wonderful natural acidity. That balance thing…….which meant the winemaking was, as always, very simple but with a whole lot less to worry about. Add in the lean, mean granitic soils of Denton View Hill that inhibit vigour & make for some pretty special fruit & we may just have produced our best chardonnay to date……
Picked early, whole bunch pressed, full malo & no adds other than low levels of sulphur……..racked & into bottle…….
